THE MAKING is a
fashion project platform aimed at discovering new fashion talents in
Nigeria. Currently in Season 2, the project brings together 10
promising fashion designers with aim of 1 winning finalist in 13
episodes per season. The winning finalist gets the ultimate exposure
with the help of some of the industry’s movers and shakers. The
Designers go through auditions, presentations, photo-shoots with some of
the best and well-known stylists, make-up artists and photographers in
the Nigerian fashion industry. The 10 Designers in THE MAKING also get a chance to have mentors who discuss
how the designers could improve or show case their designs in a better way.

Uchechi Arinze was born to a Nigerian Father and Guyanese Mother.Her mum owns ‘AUDARI’, fashion design house where she began to develop a passion for fashion.
A graduate of Architecture from the University Of Lagos. In 2009, she entered The Ade Bakare’s young designer’s competition where she ended up coming second, this opened up her eyes to the possibility of fashion design as a full time career.
She has an affordable ready to-wear line called ‘Eznira’ which is characterized by trendy fashion forward pieces consisting mainly of batik print and linen.
She has worked backstage with Costumes at the Fela Show & Arise magazine Fashion Week 2011 . Also worked with Mai Atafo Inspired’s design team which involved styling, assisting in design and working on various collections for different fashion shows.
The theme for this collection is ‘Lure of The Exotic’. The collection portrays the wardrobe of a free spirited working class lady. A lady who has a top sense of style and likes to be the centre of attention.The collection uses a lot of prints, lace, chiffon and some stretch satin.
Black is a prominent colour in this collection with the introduction of whites, gold and blue. The designs are feminine and flirty but with a racy edge emphasized by lots of deep cuts and transparent panels.
